1895 Trust Business Plan Discussion

We are opening a discussion up to the end of June on the below document.  The business plan is a collation of all the information we have discovered and a reflection of what we consider to be the most likely scenario for fan ownership given the current state of play within the club. However we don’t have a monopoly on good ideas.  We are looking for all members of the 1895 Trust to read it and as many people as possible to contribute to shaping the final document.  The draft document is available here The 1895 Trust Business Plan 2016 Draft

We are looking for all sections of the club to read it and contribute too.  We will make an effort to present it to as many concerned people as possible within the club for input.  There will be a follow up meeting just on the document after we have finished taking on board the contributions we receive.  At the SGM on Thursday the 21st of April at 7:30pm there will be a presentation of an overview of the plan by myself.  If you want to contribute to the discussion on this please email us at shelstrust@gmail.com with the Subject line “Business Plan Discussion”.

I hope to see as many of you as possible tomorrow where hard copies of the document will be available.  Don’t forget we will also be voting on new members of the Trust Committee, hearing reports on the finances and membership and taking questions as a committee.

Acting 1895 Trust Chairperson,

Brian Stafford.

Fundraiser – 2016 Belfast City Marathon

The 1895 Trust are delighted to announce that Committee Member and Fundraising Officer Barry Worthington will be running the 2016 Belfast City Marathon on Monday 2 May to raise funds for the Trust.

Barry has been training for this event, his first marathon, since October and is personally footing the full cost of participating in the run so all donations will fully go to the Trust.

Any fans looking to make a donation can do so at the next two home games against Bohs and Athlone as well as at the upcoming 1895 Trust SGM or online via the Trust’s PayPal account. Payment can be made using PayPal, by sending payment to shelstrust@gmail.com.

Election announcement: 1895 Trust board

There are currently 3 vacancies on the 1895 Trust Committee of Management, with the retirement of three longstanding members (PRO Niall Farrell, Community Officer Martin Grehan and Chairperson Lee Daly). Although roles are decided by the members of the committee themselves, we would encourage anyone with skills in the areas of these retiring members to put themselves forward. Full descriptions of these roles can be found here: http://the1895trust.com/committee/

Nominations for election must be submitted before 6pm on the 14th of April 2016. They can be submitted to Brian Stafford, 1895 Trust Secretary, 5 Kickham Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8 by Monday the 18th of April or via email to shelstrust@gmail.com. Please include your full name, a proposer and seconder and a short statement on why you are running and the particular skills/experiences you feel you can bring to the role.

The 1895 Trust announces 2016 SGM, Elections and Membership Benefits

2016 SGM and elections to the Trust board: Our SGM for this year is going to be held in Tolka Park on April 21st at 7:30pm. This will be our 4th SGM, marking a significant milestone in our history.

One of the most important values within the Supporters Trust movement is good governance, and renewal of our board of management is a major part of that. To that end, founding and long serving board members will be stepping down in advance of this SGM.

Contested elections are a hallmark of a vibrant organisation, and along with a restructuring of the Trust we will be presenting at the SGM, will play an important part in ensuring renewal. We would urge as many members as possible to participate and details of how to submit nominations are available in the attached SGM notice.

Membership: For this year, we are keeping our pay what you can membership fee intact. This can be paid through a one off yearly payment, with a minimum fee of €15, but the majority of members are now on a reoccurring scheme through PayPal or Standing Order. We’d encourage you if you are on a PayPal payment to transfer to a standing order as it incurs less expense for the Trust. You can find a standing order form to present to your bank here or set up one online with the Trust’s bank details within the form. Don’t forget to quote your name and/or membership number on the standing order details.

Recurring membership carries with it a number of rewards and here’s what’s on offer for the 2016 season:

€5 a month: A commemorative badge celebrating the 20th Anniversary of our 1996 Cup Final triumph, full membership of the Trust.

€10 a month: As above plus entry to an end of season raffle for season tickets and merchandise.

€20 a month: All rewards for proceeding levels plus two extra entries to the end of season raffle.

€50 a month: All rewards for proceeding levels and a copy of Chris Sands’ new book on the history of the club.

You can find a standing order form to present to your bank here

Our current membership stands at 130, over 20% of our average home attendance last year. To ensure we stay strong and influential, we need to maintain or increase those numbers. Please sign up and encourage others to do the same.

The future of Shelbourne FC: As with all other fans of the club, we are anxious about the future of our great club, amidst the uncertainty over our financial position and the club’s potential involvement in a move to Dalymount Park.

The Trust and its members have always maintained a mutually and co-operatively fan owned club is the way forward. We’ve been working on a business plan to achieve this, along with some other initiatives which we feel will benefit the club. We hope to present these at our SGM and will provide a full update very soon.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 21st.

Many Thanks,

The Board of Management of the 1895 Trust.

Merry Christmas from the Trust

The Committee of Management of The 1895 Trust would like to wish all Trust members, and all members of the extended Shelbourne family, a very Happy Christmas.

2015 has been a momentous year for the Trust.

In the summer we launched a major membership drive and achieved both membership goals – first 100 members and then 120.

Part of that membership drive was the launch of the new membership structure: whereby supporters can sign up to recurring monthly memberships at various price points.

The Trust celebrated Football People Weeks by inviting residents of the Mosney Direct Provision Centre to the match against Cobh, running an art competition for the cover of the club programme and producing a series of podcasts.

We also held a ballot to establish supporters’ preferred home ground for Shelbourne FC. This ballot was a central piece of our lobbying around the ground issue, which saw Trust representatives meet with the Lord Mayor and many other political representatives.

With over 130 members, the Trust is now in a very healthy position going into 2016. Our aims for the New Year will remain the same – to work for a sustainable future for our club.

To do that, we will need your help. With more members we can ensure that the voice of Shelbourne supporters will be heard when decisions are made regarding the club’s future. Memberships are available online and would make an ideal last-minute Christmas present for friends or family.
