Shelbourne face Cobh Ramblers in Tolka Park next Saturday, the 17th of October, with a number of activities planned to celebrate FARE Football People Weeks.
Working alongside the FAI and the Club, we have extended an invitation to the match to a number of residents of the Mosney Direct Provision center, as part of the campaign for social inclusion and against discrimination.
The club programme will also be part of Football People Weeks, with the front cover given over to the winning entry from a school art competition themed around diversity and football. Many of the entrants to that competition will also be invited to Tolka Park for the match.
As part of the FAI-backed celebration, The 1895 Trust will also release a series of podcasts themed around Shelbourne players’ experiences of racism.
The 1895 Trust, the Shelbourne supporters’ trust, has been a member of FARE for the last two years – with this year being the third Football People Week that the Trust has contributed to.
The Football People action weeks unite supporters, players, clubs, ethnic minorities, LGBT groups and activists to combat discrimination in football and to celebrate diversity in the game.
The Football People Weeks are the biggest campaign against discrimination and for social inclusion in European football. In 2014 over 2,000 activities and events took place in 56
countries.
